The Club were delighted to have recently retired local reporter, Caroline Murphy (formerly Boxer) in attendance to speak about her experience of working in Journalism for the last 10 years with The Strathearn Herald - a job she was quick to point out she will miss.  However, she now has new employment based at the Community Campus and will continue to be heavily involved in community work.  Obviously, journalism and the media has gone through massive change in recent years and Caroline was able to explain, in great detail, both the threats and opportunities which such changes had brought about.  Perhaps the most important point of note from the evening was the wealth of historical value which a local newspaper can bring to a community.  It was fascinating to examine some old editions of the paper and to see the noteworthy stories of the day.  All editions dating back to the late 1800s can be examined locally.  Jeff Davies gave a warm vote of thanks to Caroline and wished her success in her new post.
