Intern'l Activities

Club International Activities 2008-09 - in support of International objectives we have given financial and practical  support to the following:-

Water, Sanitation and Educational project in Nepane, Nepal - in conjunction with other Clubs in District 1010 under the lead of the Elgin Club, this project will provide safe drinking water, latrine facilities, and health education to impoverished villagers in a remote area of Nepal.

Aquabox - assisted by teachers families and friends, the pupils of Madderty Primary School filled an aquabox for use in disaster areas.  As well as providing a source of clean drinking water and filtration equipment, the box contained all sorts of equipment useful in emergency situations from cooking pots, to hygiene equipment, tools and basic clothing - all to assist those losing everything in disaster situations. The Maddery box went to Burma.

Nyumbani Trust - again in conjunction with other Clubs in our District we have supported the work going on in Kenya to provide accommodation, health facilities and education for the orphans of HIV Aids victims.  Spearheaded by members of Montrose Club, this has been a major contribution in assisting devastated families in the region.

Life Straws - after an appeal for support following a severe cholera epidemic on the border of Zimbabwe we were able to provide a supply of "Lifestraws" which are small personal water filters which provide safe drinking water for those affected in disaster areas.

School 4 All in Africa -  in conjunction with Leonard Cheshire Disability we have supported this initiative to provide education to some of the 90% of disabled children in Africa who do not currently go to school.  The initiative will support the provision of facilitles for disabled in schools as well as teaching aids and education of locals in the special needs of disabled children.
